The DM&C Application provides utilities with real-time visibility into the health of the grid and offers a more cost-effective and efficient way to improve grid reliability:
- Optimization: Volt/VAR Monitoring and Visualization arms utilities with critical information to reduce feeder line losses, smooth peak loads, prioritize higher value equipment replacements, delay premature infrastructure investments, and minimize the amount and duration of outages.
- Reliability: Load Shaping works in conjunction with the Grid Net Demand Response Load Control Application to reduce load on grid assets in times of peak demand. This feature prolongs the life of grid assets and eliminates the need to build and operate costly peak power plants. Outage Management provides precise information about outages and helps to quickly restore power. Reliability Reporting generates more accurate measurements for reliability indices like SAIDI, MAIFI, and CAIDI. This feature offers detailed visibility into individual distribution line segments which helps prioritize fixes for inefficient or problematic lines.
- Safety: Brownout Detection helps to prevent equipment damage and customer interruption. Continuous monitoring for and correction of Loss of Neutral mitigates what is a serious and potentially lethal problem.
