Premise Area Networking
The Grid Net Premise Area Networking Application is deployed on the Grid Net Platform. Because the Grid Net Platform uses point-to-point cellular networks, every Grid Net-enabled device with the PAN Application adds immediate value the moment it is installed.
The Grid Net PAN Application provides a means to control and report data from premise devices through Grid Net-enabled smart meters. Highlights include:
- Integrated ESI (Energy Service Interface) in every Grid Net-enabled smart meter with full support for Zigbee Smart Energy Profile v1.1 (v2.0 in development)
- Secure provisioning process and ongoing key management of all PAN devices
Use cases include:
- Policy-based and fully-verifiable load control of hot water heaters, pool pumps, larger appliances, and more
- Policy-based and fully-verifiable cycling of air conditioner compressors to shed load in times of peak demand
- Live streaming of 15 second intervals from in-premise devices to an In Home Display (IHD) or utility back office
The Grid Net Platform allows information reported from Grid Net-enabled smart meters running the PAN Application to be used by Distribution Monitoring & Control and Demand Response Load Control applications.
