Since its inception, Grid Net has been exclusively focused on the design and development of open standard 4G wireless machine-to-machine networking and application software, using the smart grid domain as its initial use case.

Smart metering network deployments, or AMI, can represent some of the densest and most complex machine-to-machine applications on the planet. In urban deployments, the sheer densities of smart meter sensors and control points require sophisticated real-time optimization of network resource utilization, application level quality of service, and dynamic uplink/downlink traffic engineering, while smaller rural or tactical line sensor deployments with remote, sparse densities require a cost effective solution only available via the ubiquity of public cellular networks.

As the Internet of Things evolved, the Grid Net team realized that embedded inside their PolicyNet Smart Grid software platform were the common M2M service functions required to ensure interoperability to connect the myriad M2M devices in the field with M2M application servers, to accelerate the development and deployment of M2M hardware and software products, and to facilitate the proliferation and coherence of the rapidly expanding M2M ecosystem.  Based upon leading open standards for secure, highly distributed, policy-based command & control systems, the PolicyNet M2M software platform was born.

After three years of product design, development, validation, and commercial deployment of its PolicyNet M2M platform software and PolicyNet Smart Grid application software with its global product resellers, Grid Net has emerged as the market leader in oneM2M compliant LTE network control plane software products & technologies.
